Basics
What is the difference between Flaro Booth and Flaro Vending?
Flaro Booth (flaro-booth.exe) is for events: an event code, frames, gallery, AI styles, prints.
Flaro Vending (flaro-vending.exe) is for unattended booths (hotels, malls): the guest pays by card on a Nayax reader, and one payment = one photo with one print.
Both are the same program inside; each has its own licence (seat), its own data folder and its own updates.
What computer and hardware do I need?
- Windows 10 or 11 computer with a touch screen.
- Canon camera on USB (Canon EDSDK cameras, e.g. EOS 1300D, 2000D, 800D).
- Photo printer DNP (DS-RX1, DS620) or Citizen (optional).
- Vending only: Nayax reader (VPOS Touch / Onyx) + Qibixx MDB USB adapter.
Where does the program keep its data?
In C:\Flaro Booth (Vending: C:\Flaro Vending). Settings are in config.json, photos in photos\, the log in booth.log.
The .exe can be anywhere; replacing the exe keeps all settings and photos.
How do I open the settings?
Tap the bottom-left corner of the guest screen 3 times quickly, then enter the PIN. The default PIN is 1234.
On the "Enter the event code" screen there is also a "Settings" button.
How do I change the PIN?
Close the program and edit pin in C:\Flaro Booth\config.json (Vending: C:\Flaro Vending\config.json), then start it again. An empty PIN means no PIN (not recommended at events). There is no PIN field in the settings screen yet.
Account and licence
How do I activate a booth?
Settings → "Account" tab → enter the e-mail and password of your Flaro account → "Sign in".
The computer takes one seat of your subscription. It appears in the dashboard under "Devices".
Which server should I choose, EU or US?
The region you chose when you registered. EU customers: https://eu.flarobooth.com. US customers: https://us.flarobooth.com.
What is DEMO mode?
Without a valid licence the booth still works, but every photo gets a "DEMO · FLAROBOOTH.COM" watermark (screen, print and gallery), and gallery upload and AI are off.
Reasons: not signed in, no free seat, trial ended, subscription not paid, or the device was deactivated in the dashboard.
Fix: sign in, or free a seat in the dashboard ("Devices" → "Deactivate" on an old device), or buy more seats ("Billing").
How long is the free trial?
15 days of full features on 2 devices per product, plus 3 free AI credits. No card needed.
Does the booth work without internet?
Yes. The licence stays valid offline for 72 hours after the last check. Photos wait in a queue and upload to the gallery when the internet is back.
How do I move a licence to another computer?
Dashboard → "Devices" → "Deactivate" on the old computer, then sign in on the new one. There is no limit on moves.
Events
How do I start an event on the booth?
Create the event in the dashboard ("Events"). On the booth, type the 6-character "Booth code" of that event (letters and digits).
The booth downloads the frame, AI styles, screen theme, languages and connects the gallery.
What happens when the event ends?
After the end time the booth shows "The event has ended" and guests cannot take photos. Extend the event in the dashboard; the booth picks it up within a minute.
Emergency without internet: Settings → "Event" → "+1 h here".
Does Flaro Vending need an event?
No. A vending booth works permanently. Choose an event only if you want its frame, gallery and QR codes.
Printing
How do I turn on printing?
Settings → "Print" tab → "Show the “Print” button" on. Choose the printer (or "Automatic").
Where do I see how many prints are left?
Settings → "Print" tab → "Printer status", e.g. "✓ OK · prints left 312" (DNP / Citizen). The number appears a few seconds after opening the tab.
If it never appears: "Diagnostics" → "Create file" and send C:\Flaro Booth\printer-diag.txt to support.
Prints look soft — what can I do?
Keep "Sharp print (2× larger)" on (Print tab, on by default) and set 300×600 or 600×600 dpi in the printer driver.
How do I print 5×15 strips?
Use a 5×15 frame. Two strips are printed on one 10×15 sheet. For a DNP DS-RX1 to cut them: Settings → "Print" → "Strip cut (5×15)" → "Set up" → in the printer window turn on "2inch cut" → OK. Once per printer.
The print is lighter/darker or shifted
Print tab: "Print brightness (%)" (try ±10), "Print size (%)" (97–98 if the edge is cut), "Shift left / right" and "Shift up / down". Make a "Print test" after each change.
Photo
People look too small in the photo
Settings → "Photo" → "Auto crop": "Full body", "To the knees" or "To the waist". Try in test mode first.
What is “Someone blinked — retake?”
If someone has their eyes closed, the confirm screen shows this hint. The guest decides. Turn off: Settings → "Timing" → "“Someone blinked” hint".
The frame covers the whole photo / the photo is black
The frame PNG has no transparent window. The booth then saves the photo without the frame. Fix the frame (cut a transparent window) and upload it again in the dashboard.
How do I test without filling the gallery?
Settings → "Test" → "Start test". Photos go to the _test folder, never to the gallery. Test turns off by itself after 30 minutes. Test photos are taken without auto-fix, so you see what the camera really does.
Gallery, QR and e-mail
How do guests get their photo?
After each photo a QR code appears; it opens the photo in the event gallery (iPhone: "Save to Photos"). Optional "Send by e-mail" button under the QR.
Can the gallery show my brand instead of Flaro?
Yes. Dashboard → "Branding": logo, colours, font. The gallery then shows your brand with a small "Powered by Flaro". Your own gallery domain is an add-on.
How long are galleries kept?
6 months, open to guests even if the subscription ends.
Screen and languages
Which languages can guests use?
English, Spanish, French and Portuguese (Portugal). English is the default. Dashboard → "Branding" → guest languages, or per event.
Can I use my own idle screen (photo or video)?
Yes. Dashboard → "Screens": upload a photo or a video up to 60 s. The first one of each orientation is used automatically.
Lock the screen during a break
Settings → "Lock" → "Lock now", or "Pause until a time" — the screen shows a countdown and unlocks by itself.
Program
How do I update the program?
Settings → "System" → "Updates" → "Check" → "Update". Download progress is shown; the program restarts by itself. Settings are kept.
Start the program automatically with Windows
Settings → "System" → "Start with Windows" (on by default). For a fully unattended booth also enable Windows automatic sign-in.
Guests swipe into Windows menus
Settings → "Print" tab, card "Windows" → "Protect Windows" (once per computer, asks for administrator permission): edge swipes off, Windows Update does not restart the computer by itself.
Vending (Flaro Vending)
How is Nayax connected?
Nayax reader → MDB cable → Qibixx MDB USB adapter → USB of the booth computer. The adapter is found automatically (Settings → "Payment" → "Adapter port: Automatic").
How does a paid session work?
Guest touches the screen → "Pay by card" with the price → taps the card on Nayax → photo → the print starts by itself (1 copy). The money is charged after the print.
If the print fails, or the guest leaves before the photo, the payment is refunded automatically.
Where do I set the price?
Dashboard → "Devices" → "Price per session" (your account currency). If empty, the price from the booth is used (Settings → "Payment"). Changes reach the booth within a minute.
The booth shows “Out of service”
It does not take money when it cannot deliver: card reader not connected, no licence, camera disconnected, printer error or no paper, event ended, or no price set. Settings → "Payment" → "Card reader" shows the reason.
How do I test vending without a card?
Settings → "Payment" → "Adapter port" → "Simulation (no payment)": every payment is approved. Or use test mode (no payment at all). Never leave Simulation on at a client.
Which Nayax settings are needed?
In Nayax Core (done by the reader owner): MDB cashless mode, single vend (multi-vend off), price set by the machine, and a vend session timeout at least as long as "Max time from payment to print" (default 180 s). If Nayax cannot wait that long, set "Charge" → "Right after payment" on the booth (then failed prints must be refunded manually in Nayax).
Where do I see sales?
Dashboard → "Sales": revenue by day, latest payments, refunds, CSV download. Payout and disputes are in Nayax Core.
What does “Check in Nayax” mean in Sales?
The booth restarted or lost the reader during a paid session, so it does not know the final result. Check that payment in Nayax Core.
